Judge Padgett appointed to Superior Court

ATLANTA – Governor Sonny Perdue announced Tuesday the appointment of J. Wade Padgett to fill the vacancy on the Superior Court of the Augusta Judicial Circuit created by the resignation of the Honorable Duncan Wheale.

Padgett, 43, of Evans, currently serves as Chief Magistrate Judge for Columbia County.

Padgett also serves on the board of directors of Leadership Augusta and is a member of the board of directors for the Augusta Bar Association

Judge Wheale’s resignation will go into effect on January 31, 2009.

The Augusta Judicial Circuit includes Columbia, Richmond and Burke counties.
