The first woman selected as a Republican Vice-Presidential nominee will address the nation Wednesday night.

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin will officially accept the bid at the Republican National Convention in Minneapolis.

Deanne Hall from Columbia County has already been listening to what Palin has to say.

"She lowered property taxes, increased revenue, cut spending, she said she was gonna root out corruption in government and she did that."

Hall is just one of many local Republicans excited about her party's first female Vice Presidential nomination. They say along with her resume, she'll have female power on her side.

"She is a trail blazer for the average American woman. The wife, the business woman, it doesn't matter."

"She is feminine, she's a woman, she's beautiful, she has children and she's embracing that," said Republican Jessica Morris.

But some say Palin will face a wall of criticism. Some call her too inexperienced for the job. Others question if she's ready to lead with a small child at home and controversy over her teenage daughter's pregnancy.

But supporters say some of that criticism is because of Palin's sex.

"Edwards' wife had terminal cancer, but nobody asked him to step aside. In fact people applauded them for their strength and courage," said Hall.

Even with possible obstacles, many Palin supporters say they hope her popularity will transcend political lines and tug at the hearts of American women.

I support Gov. Palin because she is a dinamic leader who has the courage to do what is right for America, not because of her gender.

I heard Sara Palin speak tonight and I think she is a great role model for all women in this country. And that she will do a great job and I think everyone needs to stop finding fault with her about her family. Her family will not help run our country.

I am so pleased to see McCain has had the wisdom to pick someone with more experience than Obama.

I don't care if she is female or not. She should be judged based on her record, and the qualities she brings to the ticket, not on the fact she is female.
