ATLANTA (AP) - Atlanta police shot one suspect and arrested two
others following a pursuit that began at Lenox Square Mall and
ended at a midtown shopping center.

Officer Eric Schwartz, a police spokesman, said the suspects
were involved in a so-called smash-and-grab shoplifting incident at
Bloomingdale department store.

The thefts and chase occurred at about noon Thursday.

Three males were arrested and each were charged with aggravated
assault on a police officer and theft. Schwartz said a fourth
suspect eluded capture.

Norwood suffered a gunshot wound to the shoulder and was listed
in stable condition.

An off-duty Fulton County sheriff's deputy suffered a leg
injury. His name and the nature of his injury was not disclosed.
