Millions of people who have home loans with Countrywide are learning they need to worry about the possibility of identity theft.
That's because their personal information may have been sold.
In a letter sent out this week, Countrywide admits a former employee sold unauthorized personal information to a third party.
That information included names, addresses, social security numbers and application information.
The FBI arrested the employee and reports as many as two million people may have had their data stolen.
Countrywide is offering affected customers two years of free credit monitoring service.
Countrywide is urging them to sign up for the free service and to place a fraud alert on their credit reports.
Concerned customers can also put a credit freeze on their accounts. That action will prevent thieves from opening any new accounts.
If you are a Countrywide customer who received one of these letters, tell us your story.
