AUGUSTA, Ga. - An Augusta school's popularity has forced it to expand its campus.

The University of Phoenix broke ground Tuesday on a new building that will nearly double the size of the current school.

Business, psychology and criminal justice are just a few of the degrees offered at the school.

The school currently has more than 1400 students enrolled and is expecting to gain many more.

"We opened this campus two years ago and since then, we've seen our student population grow, mostly because our current students and alumni have been referring students here,” said Campus Director, Asher Haines.

University officials are planning to have the new facility completed and open in March. They say the bigger campus will mean more options for local students.
