Accident on Bobby Jones Expressway kills one and injures another

AUGUSTA, G.A. - Richmond County's Coroner says a one car accident on Bobby Jones Expressway killed a woman from Colbert, Georgia Sunday.

The coroner says Candy Michelle Butler was driving more than 90 miles per hour in the westbound lanes of the expressway when she lost control of her SUV.

The SUV flipped several times landing in the middle of the eastbound lanes, shutting down the road completely.

The crash happened just before 3 p.m. A passenger was in Butler’s car. That person is currently undergoing surgery at MCG Health.
