Arts festivals thrive in Augusta

AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP)- Despite the economy, early attendance numbers show arts festivals in Augusta thriving.

Organizers say both the Arts in the Heart of Augusta and Westobou festivals exceeded attendance.

Arts in the Heart saw a 33 percent increase in attendance from Sept. 19-21 _ up from 50,000 last year. Organizers say revenue rose by about $25,000, despite a $2 increase in the price of a three-day
ticket.

Organizers estimate several thousand more attended the Westobou
Festival.

Director Kathi Dimmock estimates a total of 100,000 people attended both festivals.

How could the Westobou Festival exceed attendance? This was the first one. Do you mean it exceeded EXPECTED attendance?
