Kellogg asking stores to pull some peanut butter crackers

Tools

ROANOKE, Va. (AP) - Kellogg is asking stores to stop selling a variety of crackers containing peanut paste supplied by a Virginia company that's issued a nationwide recall of peanut butter produced at one of its plants.

Kellogg says its request to pull peanut butter crackers sold under the Austin and Keebler brands was made out of caution.

The company says it hasn't found any problems or received complaints
about those products.

Lynchburg-based Peanut Corp. of America issued the recall
Tuesday because of possible salmonella contamination.

The recall is for 21 lots of peanut butter made since July 1 at its plant in
Blakely, Georgia.

A national salmonella outbreak has sickened more than 430 people in 43 states.
