Two Burnettown fourth graders caught trying to sell pot at school

BURNETTOWN, S.C. - Police in Burnettown made an unusual drug bust: two fourth graders trying to sell pot at Jefferson Elementary.

Police say half a dozen students saw the drugs before some of them told their teacher.

Police Chief D.P. Smith says it's actually a good sign since the kids knew to report the drugs.

He says there's no reason to believe this is anything more than an isolated incident.

School officials say the two 10-year-old students should be expelled. But, that will have to be decided by the District's Advisory Council.

It will be up to Aiken County's Family Court to decide if the two face criminal charges.

Freeing the parents from such an atmosphere would be the first step, and an honest and factual drug education program would be the second.

down at the local Juvenile Court. Kids and drugs don't mix; kids are our futures as well as the prohibitionists', and we need to take very good care to see that all kids grow up in an atmosphere free from criminality, jail, exploitation, and ignorance. Freeing the parents from such an atmosphere would be the first step, and an honest and factual drug education program would be the second.

a proposition which even the most rabid prohibitionists would not want to get behind (I think! . I think this Juvenile Court is going to have to think long and hard to come up with a creative and appropriate solution for this case, and based on what I know of southern juvenile courts, it ain't gonna happen. Nevertheless, it NEEDS to happen, and it's something we in the pro-cannabis community need to examine as well as your local, fire-eating prohibitionists

Fourth graders have no business dealing or using drugs. Having said that, and having this question before us, what to do with these two? Obviously they deserve "A"'s in business, but I don't think that course was on offer in the 4th grade. And I think they'e obviously too young to prosecute as criminals. You can't have kids dealing drugs at school. However, if you expel these two from school, that's going to ensure that they deal drugs or commit worse crimes
