AIKEN, S.C. - A settlement could soon be announced in the James Brown estate.

After years of arguing and court appeals Judge Jack Early is expected to announce his decision soon on how James Brown's estate should be divided among his heirs. The final hearing wrapped up Monday.

The hearing began with the trustees asking the judge to consider putting Brown's Beech Island, South Carolina home up for sale. Judge Early quickly shot the motion down.

The next order of business was to ensure that all of the attorneys’ costs would not be paid from money meant for Brown's charity, but out of the family and trustees' pockets. Attorneys for Brown’s family assured the judge they would not receive payment out of the charity fund.

Lawyers for all parties have racked up a bill of more than a million dollars. Each hearing alone costs James Brown's family more than $10,000.

"I think that we've struggled very hard to bring this family together,” said Tomi Rae Brown’s attorney, Robert Rosen. “I think the most important thing is that the Brown children and Mrs. Brown have made peace and they want the charity that James Brown wanted to be setup and they've settled this case."

It could be a week or more before Judge Early makes a decision on how Brown's Estate will be split. After the judges decision, the parties involved could file for an appeal, forcing another round of hearings.

The Godfather was the hardest working man in showbiz. The only folks more hardworking are the lawyers grabbing his fortune dollar by dollar!
