Richmond Co. residents asked to report to Bernie Ward Community Center for storm damage assessment

AUGUSTA, Ga.- Richmond County officials are asking residents to report to the Bernie Ward Community Center to assess damage to their property as a result of Friday night's severe weather.

The center opens at 8 a.m. Saturday and is located at 1925 Lumpkin Road in Augusta.

NBC Augusta 26 News has learned the south Augusta area was hit hard by the storms. There are reports of dozens of damaged homes and downed trees in the area.

26 News crews are gathering information about damage throughout Georgia-Carolina. Emergency workers are surveying damage in Richmond, Aiken, Burke, McDuffie and Columbia counties.
