Cutting back pays off for Columbia County schools

By Ashley Campbell acampbell@nbcaugusta.com

EVANS, Ga.- Cutting back pays off!

The Columbia County Student Advisory Committee, made up of students from all of the county's high schools, completed its energy conservation project.

Superintendent Charles Nagle says the district saved $65,000 from December through April.

Greenbrier High saved the most--more than $29,000, just by having teachers turn off their classroom lights and unplug computers over the weekend.

Super job. Green is the buzzword that is something everybody needs to look at if we are going to have anything for future generations.

Your kidding right. 65k district wide!? Let's see, during this time of year the energy demand is very low with mild temps. You also have the christmas recess and spring break. There should have been much bigger savings. Thumbs down.
