FORT GORDON, Ga. - Fort Gordon and Eisenhower Army Medical Center received confirmation late Wednesday of two more cases of H1N1 flu.
A 31-year-old active duty service member who was seen at EAMC on June 27 and a 44-year-old retiree who was examined on June 30 are the confirmed cases.
The soldier was hospitalized briefly and then sent home, and the retiree was not hospitalized.
The tests were confirmed by the U.S. Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine laboratory in San Antonio, Texas.
State and local public health departments have been notified.
EAMC and Fort Gordon have a contingency plan in place and continue to be proactive in treating and testing patients who present flu-like symptoms.
This is the eighth confirmed H1N1 case at Fort Gordon.
