AUGUSTA, Ga. - The state is now reviewing the personal care home, where Elizabeth Bert, an 85-year-old Alzheimer's patient was staying, before she wandered away and died.

A representative from the state's Department of Community Health says the state's licensing and regulation board is reviewing the House of Life personal care home to make sure they're following the proper rules and regulations Georgia Healthcare facilities are required to follow.

Elizabeth Bert was found dead in an Augusta Neighborhood on Sunday, July 5 - three days after she walked out of the House of Life.

The board confirmed that House of Life has a proper license, but is in the process of examining police reports, the coroner’s report and conducting interviews.

Since Bert's body was found House of Life has installed a security system where an alarm goes off every time the doors are opened, something NBC Augusta 26 News observed Thursday when requesting an interview.

House of Life is aware of the review, but had nothing more to say about it, except that they feel hurt.
