Clearwater Elementary races to support The Cumbee Center

CLEARWATER, S.C. - It was a race to the finish line for a principal and teacher at Clearwater Elementary School on Wednesday.

Principal Susan Malcolm and teacher Jessica Gunter raced each other in wheelchairs for The Cumbee Center to Assist Abused Persons.

The light-hearted competition was to show appreciation for students who collected more than 400 canned goods for the center.

The teachers say it's a great lesson in giving back.

“To teach the kids to give other people. There’s always someone who is worse off,” said Principal Susan Malcolm.

Principal Malcolm had surgery on her foot and gets her cast off Friday. Mrs. Gunter had surgery on her knee.
