Modifying your car can be eye catching and also very expensive and if your not careful, it can also catch the eye of law enforcement.
Joseph from Evans wants to know if it's legal to have neon lights on your car?
From satellite radio to satellite TV to GPS. The sky is the limit when it comes to 'tricking' out your ride.
Richard Hurt modifies cars at this Martinez shop. "A lot of them are accenting the vehicle with neon lights and under body neon."
Hurt installs dozen of the light kits each year and for $300, you too can glow on the road. But there's certain colors he won't put under that car, that's because they're illegal. "If somebody wants you to do a blue light, you really shouldn't do that. It interferes with the law," Hurt said.
"You can't have the blue lights, you can't have the red lights, you can't have flashing green lights," Columbia County Deputy Bobby Bradford said.
If deputy Bradford see those lights, he'll show you his blue lights. "If they're under the car and the lights are not visible, we cannot stop them. But if the lights are visible and the lights can be seen we do stop them."
And if you're stopped, you'll see red and pay a lot of green, $119 to be exact. So if you decide to customize your ride, you'll want to stay away from red, blue and flashing green.
If you live in South Carolina, the law there says it's illegal to have any blue, red or flashing lights anywhere on your vehicle.
