FIRST ON 26: Augusta Commission candidate Butch Palmer accused of threatening neighbor with shotgun

AUGUSTA, Ga. – A neighbor of Butch Palmer is accusing the Augusta Commissioner candidate of pulling a shotgun on him because his music was too loud.

NBC Augusta 26 News has learned Elliot Davis filed a police report and arrest warrant application against the candidate and community activist.

Davis says the incident happened last week.

He tells 26 News Palmer pulled out a shotgun and said, “If you don’t turn that music down, I’m going to shoot you.”

Palmer has been active in the Harrisburg community. He’s spoken out against criminal activity and slumlords in the Augusta neighborhood.

He is currently a candidate for the District 1 seat.

Richmond County Sheriff Ronnie Strength confirms the arrest warrant application against Palmer has been filed.

A civil court judge will have to decide whether a warrant will be issued against Palmer.

A court date is set for November 6.

It has not been proven that he really pointed a gun at the guy. It is easy to accuse someone of that. If I were Palmer I'd be getting Elliott's full name and checking out his record.

The loud and annoying music being blared at supersonic levels is enough to annoy & aggravate even the most patient christian folks on the planet. With all the profanity, sexual content & disrespect it frustrates me. . But to pull a gun is taking it too far. Granted I may not share their same taste in musice, however I am not willing to take a life over a little bit of "ear bleeding"

I saw the picture of Palmer in the Chronicle and though he looked like a creep, now I know he is. Even though loud music in cars is annoying, that's no reason to threaten anyone with a gun.
