New books for Laney
AUGUSTA, Ga. - Laney High School students are getting some new reading material. The school just received books donated from the Library of Congress. Congressman John Barrow surprised the students today with books that will go into the school's library. Laney student Candace Pittman says, "It betters us as a student and school. Everyone downs Laney. It just shows we can do anything that we put our mind to". Congressman Barrow added, "Anything to help give public schools the resouces we need, especially the kid who wants more to read. It's a big help". Barrow tells 26 News, the books are being donated because the Library of Congress has a surplus of extra books that can't be placed on shelves. Schools in Jefferson and Washington counties also received books.
