Convenience store worker fakes robbery in attempt to steal cash
SPRINGFIELD, Ga. (AP) - An Effingham County convenience store Effingham County Sheriff's spokesman David Ehsanipoor said 19-year-old Danny Newsom remained jailed Tuesday. Ehsanipoor said Newsom, who is white, told deputies he was robbed at gunpoint by three black males after his car broke down Sunday night and two bank bags were taken. The money partly belonged to the store and the Georgia Lottery Ehsanipoor tells the Savannah Morning News that Newsom's story He was charged with reporting a false crime, giving false statements to law enforcement and theft by conversion.
