AUGUSTA, Ga. - Augusta lawmakers are considering ending a tax exemption for people 65 or older.
Richmond County School Superintendent Dana Bedden says, if you turn 65, you may have to pay local school taxes, depending on your income.
The change would require a referendum and the legislature's support.
If passed, the law would bring about $7 million into the school district's budget. Those already 65 may be grandfathered in.
