NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. - North Augusta Public Safety says the woman who hit and killed a man while he was working in his yard will not be charged.

William Adams was doing yard work last Sunday when Chatrice Evans hit him with her car at the intersection of Terrace Circle and Seymour Drive. Adams died at MCGHealth shortly after. Evans also lives on Seymour Drive.

Investigators met with the Adams and Evans families and concluded that no one was at fault.

“It was a combination of a lot of different things leading up to this tragic accident,” Lt. Tim Pearson from North Augusta Public Safety said.

Adams was known and loved by his neighbors. Neighbors say he was well known for his gardening.

“No one left without a flower,” one woman said.

Evans told investigators the sun was in her eyes and she couldn’t see past a pile of brush in the road.

This is confusing. Even with the sun in her eyes, couldn't she stay in the road? As a neighbor, she should be familiar with where the road runs. Must have been some really unusual circumstances to manage to hit a guy in his yard.

how does that make sense??? so as long as it's an accident I won't get charged if I kill someone? what happened to being accountable for your actions?? This is ridiculous.

Maybe stuff like this is one of the reasons for the outrageous claim by insurance companies that females have lower accident rates than grown men. Talk obout accident forgiveness...

Must be some facts in the case public not being told about. PS: Wish 26 would stop the pop up ads when you check out a story!

So basically, if I kill someone by accident, chances are I just get a slap on the wrist? Well...at least the lady will have to live with this for the rest of her life.
