Animal hospital creates memorial for UGA school mascott

AUGUSTA, Ga. - The passing of a canine legend has many looking back on their fond memories of UGA VII, the mascot of the Georgia Bulldogs.

Nowhere is that more obvious than in the lobby of Saint Francis Animal Hospital in Augusta.

Veterinarians built a shrine to UGA VII, and all of the bulldogs that came before him.

Yet, some fans are having a hard time saying 'good bye'.

"For the die hard Bulldog fan, it has been very emotional,” said Dr. Mark Tribby, the man behind the memorial. “We have been surprised at how many people have come in to sign the guest book. This is more of just a celebration of his life."

UGA VII barked at opposing teams for 23 Bulldog games, which sadly, is the shortest tenure of any Georgia mascot.
