AUGUSTA, Ga. - It's been going on for almost 20 years.

For the first time ever the Brown Family Foundation gave out more than 1,000 turkeys and had some left over.

People lined up Monday morning at Dyess Park to get their a free turkey.

The family is giving the extra turkeys to local shelters.

They will also continue the holiday spirit during a Christmas toy giveaway next month.
