They say only cats have nine lives. That's until you meet one very special dog from Waynesboro.
Meet Anna, a one year-old golden retriever.
"It's an amazing story," Richard Daniels said.
Fun, energetic and of course very playful.
"It's the kind of thing dreams are made of," Daniels said.
For Anna, it wasn't always about fun and companionship. Last January, she was found on the side of Highway 56, the victim of a hit and run.
"It was a calling. It was something I had to do," Daniels said.
Without hesitation, Richard Daniels, who runs the Old Fellow Burke County Animal Rescue came to her rescue.
"The dog's front leg had to come off. My concern was what am I going to do with a three legged dog? Who's going to adopt a three legged dog?," Daniels said.
Daniels turned to the Internet and a site he commonly visited, RV.net. He placed Anna's story on-line and within weeks, the three legged friend had a new home. The only problem, it was nearly 3,000 miles away.
"How are we going to get Anna to Washington State?," Daniels said.
The road to Anna's new home won't be easy. She'll spend the next 2 weeks on the road traveling in seven different campers. CLICK HERE TO VIEW ANNA’S JOURNEY.
Those campers will be driven by travelers who have agreed to bring Anna across the country to her new home in Washington State.
"For this to come together for Anna, it's just short a miracle," Daniels said.
We plan to follow Anna's adventure across America.
Richard Daniels tells us he's already rescued more than 100 dogs.
