AIKEN, S.C. - Aiken County investigators responded to a call about a man found shot several times.

An ambulance rushed 24-year-old Donald Hickman of Aiken to MCGHealth where he was pronounced dead.

Officers got the call a little after 6 p.m., Wednesday evening.

The coroner says Hickman of Aiken was shot several times and left for dead on the 100 block of Green Road in Aiken.

Investigators say a woman driving by discovered Hickman lying on the road.

"A passerby on Green Road here in Aiken noticed a body in the roadway,” said Sgt. Dave Myers of the Aiken County Sheriff's Office. “She exited her vehicle and saw the person had been shot several times so she called 911 and notified us."

Forensics teams scoured the area, looking in the bushes and on the street for clues.

Investigators are not releasing much evidence at this time in order to protect the investigation.

Investigators say they are still searching for leads in the case.
