AUGUSTA, Ga. - New numbers show Augusta's unemployment rate rose slightly since last month.
The unemployment rate rose by a tenth to 9.5 percent from September to October, meaning 243 people in the metro area lost their jobs in October, according to numbers released by the Georgia Department of Labor.
The state's unemployment rate also rose by a tenth to 10.2 percent.
For the first time in two years, Georgia's rate matches the national rate.
Overall the number of payroll jobs in Georgia has decreased by over 227,000 since October last year.
