AUGUSTA, Ga. - It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas on the Augusta State University campus.

Thousands of bright, colorful lights lit up the school's Christmas tree Thursday night.

Hundreds of families came out for the tradition that dates back over 20 years.

A holiday chorus along with cookies and hot chocolate got everyone in the holiday spirit.

Even Santa Claus made a stop, although he traded in his sleigh and reindeer for a fire truck courtesy of the Richmond County Fire Department.

"This is the first time we've brought them all and it's a lot of fun. They were excited to see Santa come up on his fire truck, sing Christmas songs and get a candy cane," said grandmother, Beth Evans.

It was so nice. Two days ago we went to the Fort Gordon tree lighting and we were there for three hours with no coco, cookies or Sants. They took too long and it was extremely cold for the young kids. At ASU..we got coco and cookies immediately and Santa came in with a bang. It was short, sweet and to the point. I am a student at ASU and I was proud to bring my kids to my school. They truly enjoyed themselves and we did not freeze forever just to see Santa. WAY TO GO!
