Georgia man sent to prison for supporting terrorism

ATLANTA (AP) - A Georgia man was sentenced to prison for
conspiring to support terrorist groups by videotaping U.S.
landmarks and plotting to support ``violent jihad.''

Ehsanul Islam Sadequee was sentenced to 17 years in prison
Monday for sending the tapes of U.S. landmarks to terror suspects
overseas in hopes of boosting his reputation. The 23-year-old faced
up to 60 years after he was convicted of four terror-related
charges in August.

His friend Syed Haris Ahmed faces 15 years in prison. He was
convicted in June of conspiring to support terrorist groups. Ahmed,
24, is to be sentenced Monday afternoon.

Prosecutors say the two never posed an imminent threat to the
U.S. but took concrete steps to help terrorists when they shot the
choppy videos and sent them to suspected terrorists overseas.

EACH CASE HAS TO BE JUDGED ON ITS OWN, AND THIS ONE HAS APPARENTLY BEEN JUDGED CORRECTLY. ANYONE CAN TAKE PICTURES, BUT TO KNOWINGLY SEND THEM TO SOMEONE WANTING TO HARM THE US AND ITS CITIZENS, DESERVE ALL THAT THE LAW CAN DO TO THEM. DON'T BE AFRAID, STAND UP AND PROTECT YOURSELF THE BEST WAY YOU CAN. IF WE ARE NOT WILLING TO DEFEND OURSELVES, HOW EASY WOULD IT BE TO BE TAKEN OVER AND RULED BY PEOPLE THAT DON'T CARE WHAT WE HAVE OR WHAT WE BELIEVE.

You missed the point. taking video's of public landmarks was not the problem, sending them to friends was not the problem. Taking video and sending them to your jihadist friends for the purpose of lending legitimacy of your commitment to the jihadist cause is.

I certainly would not want another attack in the US, BUT...since when was it illegal to shoot video of a public landmark and send it to your "friends". This is tantamount to "Big Brother". Remember, there is no real privacy in the world of today. And Nora, curl up in your bed and pull the covers over your head. It will be alright.
