AIKEN, S.C. – The Aiken City Council is delaying a decision on loaning $1.3 million to the Aiken Corporation.
The decision will be decided in January of 2010, according to the Mayor Pro Tem Don Wells.
Aiken Corp. plans to use the money to fund the reconstruction of the Aiken Railroad Depot.
The depot will be used as a tourist attraction and museum and is expected to boost the economy.
The Corporation expects $2.3 million in donations to come in over the next five years for the Depot and all the tourist attractions being built with it.
