It's been a long journey for a Warrenton couple, they just arrived home with their four new born babies. The quadruplets were born two months ago by a surrogate mother thousands of miles away.
John and Deborah Kalume says they've waited a long time for this moment. After two months of waiting their four new babies are finally home. A surrogate mother in California gave birth to the quadruplets.
“It was nice to able to be back and see everything and be home again,” says Deborah Kalume.
The birth was a surprise; having placed two embryos they ended up with four babies, born 11 weeks early. Only brother and sister Abraham and Kristiana made their debut for us. Brothers Azariah and Jeremiah are still in intensive care. The only girl of the bunch already seems to be the star of the show.
“She's seems to be a little bit calmer. I am not saying she doesn't have an attitude from time to time but she seems to be a lot more mellow,” she says.
The couple says they haven't had much sleep, there's lots of feedings and changings.
They go through about 280-diapers a week. There's also lots of promises from people offering their support and baby sitting services.
The two boys in intensive care will remain at Trinity Hospital until they make a complete recovery.
