NASCAR driver Kyle Petty along with hundreds of his friends roared through Augusta to during his annual motorcycle charity ride. The tour aims to help raise money for sick kids.
One by one they roared into Augusta, nearly 300-bikers on Kyle Petty's Charity Motorcycle Ride. The annual awareness tour raises money to send sick kids to Victory Junction Camp in North Carolina to help them to get better. Kyle and his wife Patty founded the camp four-years ago in honor of their son Adam.
He was killed during a NASCAR practice round in 2000.
“The camp is a part of the healing process for us. When you lose a child you don't expect it. So to turn that around and make a positive out of it; I tell them all the time when the kids leave camp and they have Adam's smile on their face, then I know he's still with us,” says Petty.
Holly Keenan's son Nicholas was born with cerebral palsy.
“It would the world to us for my son to be able to be around other kids around him,” she says.
Each year Petty's charity raises more than a million dollars to make that happen. Four thousand kids with life-threatening diseases get the opportunity do things they never have before. This is the second year football great Herschel Walker has pitched in.
“It's amazing there are some kids that never smile and I saw them smile for the first time,” he says.
Also on the tour Supermodel Niki Taylor.
“You can't just talk about it you have to go see it for yourself. It’s Disneyworld but it really Pettyworld,” she says.
A place where dreams come true for kids who need a big boost while they get better!
The group has one more stop before they travel to their last stop in Hollywood, Florida.
