AUGUSTA, Ga. – A south Augusta man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for a killing a woman and injuring another last July.

Willie Bragg pleaded guilty to Homicide by Vehicle and Hit and Run.

Investigators say Bragg hit and killed Shannon Mathis with his car. He also injured her sister Diana Meyers. The two were walking along Bennock Mill Road in south Augusta when Bragg’s truck hit them from behind.

Investigators say Bragg may have been drunk at the time.

The trial is over and he's been sentenced and he "may have been drunk at the time"? Why say it, if it is not a known, established, proven fact. Did he have a history of drunk driving? Not finding fault, just wanted to know.
