Columbia County native and Lakeside High School graduate Ryan Clark was one of the victims in the Virginia Tech Massacre. NBC Augusta talked to his twin brother and friend about how they're coping one year later.

"It's hard everyday. I don't know that you ever finish grieving said Bryan Clark.

Ryan was a VA Tech senior, on the verge of graduating, when he was gunned down in his dorm where the first shooting happened.

Now his brother Bryan says he's focusing on Ryan's memory.

"As a person he was giving, intelligent, kind, a person who was hard to forget." Bryan also remembers his brother's gift for music, but says he had a pitchy start.

"I remember a trumpet and a Wynton Marcellas book. Thankfully he got better over time."

But it was Ryan's exuberant smile that his brother and friends say is etched in their hearts forever more.

"His laugh was his greatest attribute. It could make you feel better no matter what," said friend Sarah Borgatti.

They say it's that smile, the kindness of others, and a hope of seeing Ryan again that has kept them everyday.
