Shots rang out Thursday on the campus of a community college in Phoenix, Arizona.

When it was over, three people were injured.

A community college becomes a crime scene when a argument between a former student and another guy spirals out of control.

Student Yessenia Lara says "and then one got punched and the one who got punched took out his gun and shot three times."

Three people were hit, other students ducked for cover.

Reuben Gonzales of the Phoenix Police Department says "we started receiving multiple 911 calls at exactly 4 o'clock."

Police start arriving within one minute.

Student Denise Daniels says "I saw man in the front and he was waiting for the police."

Student Joel Garcia says "I saw the swat team running up and down searching everywhere."

The gunman had already slipped off campus but authorities still took emergency precautions.

Student Courtney Balazic says "a guy came in and said we were going to be in lock down."

After an hour, officers allowed students and staff to leaving searching cars pulling off campus.

South Mountain Community College now joins an awful fraternity of schools stained by bloodshed.

A school official said "we will through our counseling office offer grief counseling to any student who had any concern."

Administrators say they are constantly evaluating safety procedures and security on campus. As for the gunman, police say they arrested him at a house just a few miles away from the campus within 30 minutes from getting the first call. Of the three people shot two were said to be in critical condition, the other is listed in stable condition.
