A second arrest has been made in connection with the murder of missing Allendale teen Ericka Bradley.

SLED investigators charged Johnathan Lee Capps with accessory after the fact of murder. He's accused of helping get rid of Bradley's body the night she disappeared.

Allendale County Sheriff Tom Carter believes they have two main suspects in the Bradley murder case, but says they are still questioning more people. Carter says this second arrest helps give the family closure.

"Hoping we can get to the bottom of this so we can have a proper burial," said Annie Wright, Bradley's Grandmother.

It's been 18 months since Ericka Bradley disappeared. Eighteen months, where her loved ones were left with the unanswered question: What happened to Ericka's body?

Carter tells NBC Augusta it was a year ago when they first started getting clues. Clues that led them to Capps.

Carter says they believe Capps helped Ericka's boyfriend Derek Maner dispose of her body. They say Capps burned her body in an incinerator at Cullum Lumber Company, where he worked, the night Ericka disappeared.

"We had our doubts, maybe he was shooting off the mouth," said Carter.

But as investigators looked for her body, they say Capps' claims started to make more sense.

NBC Augusta obtained a copy of an affidavit from his hearing. It shows Capps told people, "He put Ericka Bradley's body in a firebox where he worked and wished he had gotten her gold teeth out and took them to a pawn shop".

That's a statement, Ericka's grandmother can't believe.

"I would be devastated to know he would say something like that.
That would be like he didn't have a heart in his body or no love," said Wright.

Although this second arrest answered some questions, investigators say the incinerator didn't leave any evidence of a body.

"It burns at a high heat, so there's possibly no way of finding a trace of anybody," said Carter.

News that's hard for Ericka's family to hear. But they say, the only way they'll have closure, is if justice is served.

Capps still works at Cullum Lumber Company. He's out of jail on a $50,000 bond. There's no word yet about his next court appearance.

NBC Augusta has also learned a trial date for Maner, Ericka's former boyfriend, has not been set.

Maner was the last person seen with Ericka on November 6th, 2006.

Maner is in jail without bond.

It's cases like this that make me wonder if we truly presume people innocent until convicted in a court of law. It would be nice if the reporter or source could provide more information... I mean, really... who would dispose of a body and then make a statement like that? that seems a bit odd.
