Richland County deputy fired after DUI charge

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - A Richland County deputy has been fired
after troopers say he fled the scene of a wreck where he was
driving drunk.

Troopers say Dennis Quinn was pulling out of a nightclub on to
U.S. 1 in Columbia early Friday morning when his sports utility
vehicle hit a motorcycle.

Authorities say Quinn then drove off. The woman on the
motorcycle was treated and released from the hospital.

Sheriff Leon Lott fired Quinn on Friday.

Quinn has been charged with driving under the influence, having
an open container of beer or wine, failure to maintain proof of
insurance of motor vehicle and leaving the scene of an accident.
