They can be loud, pretty and pretty much amazing.
But what about when you take matters into your own hands?

"It's gunpowder, it can burn very quickly," said Dr. Fred Mullins. He's a burn surgeon at Doctors hospital.

He says the Fourth of July marks one of the burn center's busiest times. Doctors Hospital and the Joseph M. Still Burn Center saw 15- fireworks related burn patients this holiday weekend. Those patients had all kinds of injuries.
"Some of them will stay just the day, some for several days," he said.

Mullins says he knows fireworks can be a lot of fun -- but they can also be very dangerous.

"The people still out there using fireworks need to be very careful," he said.

Doctors Hospital tells NBC Augusta out of the patients they saw for fireworks injuries -- they only had to admit four.

All of those patients have been released.
