Sons of Confederate Vets fight NAACP over South Carolina flags

(AP)- The Sons of Confederate Veterans say they'll raise the Confederate flag across South Carolina in response to the NAACP's new push to remove the banner from the Statehouse grounds.

Confederate Veterans spokesman Don Gordon says his group is negotiating with a landowner to put a large flag atop a pole along
a Midlands interstate highway. He would not give details.

He says the group hopes to add other large flagpoles to interstates across the state so drivers will "know they're in the South.''

South Carolina NAACP President Lonnie Randolph says he doesn't
mind the effort and encourages the group to put up the flags so
everyone will know where its members stand.

The NAACP announced at its convention this week a renewed
boycott and effort to bring down the Confederate flag that was moved to a capitol monument after a deal brought it down from the building's dome in 2000.

The way that I see the ACLU is a group that is self absorbed. Instead of looking at matters of color, the topic of right and wrong is what needs to be addressed in any given situation from the stand point of the Bible not self appointed minsters. Until this organization takes a deep look at it's self and stands for what is Truly within the the scriptures there will be more and more cases like O.J. where the defendent is freed only to be caught again. Who knows maybe next time the victim next tim

Rather than the NAACP concerning themselves with Confederate "symbols" of slavery/oppression, they should fight as loudly and as heatedly to properly educate all African-Americans, getting them gainful employment, and getting them to respect themselves enough to maintain healthy and moral lifestyles for themselves and their children instead of hiding from the past and lamenting prior ills. Why not face forward and vindicate the past with a prosperous present and future?

some people need to look in history about the flag it was not for slavery the confederate states didn't want yankees to come and still their jobs and some folks need to know it is history. What if one person get hurt from another and that person call the naacp and they come down and protest if the southern raise the flag they scream prejuiced(talking about the other person) and have protest they need to know that it is history and freedom of speech.
