Tropical storm warning for Hanna extended north

MIAMI (AP) - A tropical storm warning has been extended north to
parts of New Jersey just south of New York City as Hanna swirls
toward the East Coast.

Meanwhile, a hurricane watch is in effect for the South Carolina
coast south of Charleston to North Carolina's Outer Banks.

A tropical storm watch is posted from Sandy Hook, New Jersey, to
Watch Hill, Rhode Island.

At 11 A.M. Eastern time, Hanna was about 110 miles off Florida's
east coast. It's moving toward the northwest at 20 miles-an-hour.
The center of the storm is expected to be near the Southeast coast
this afternoon and tonight.

Hanna's winds are near 65 miles-an-hour. It's expected to get
slightly stronger before landfall, possibly even becoming a
hurricane.

The storm is expected to bring 3 to 7 inches of rain to a region
stretching from South Carolina's coast to the Philadelphia area. It
could also drench New England as it moves north over the weekend.
