NAACP: Film industry shows interest in S.C. boycott

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina NAACP leaders say they've courted dozens of people in the film industry and many have expressed interest in joining the group's boycott of the state.

South Carolina NAACP president Lonnie Randolph declined Monday to give the names of specific actors or film companies.

He said the organization plans to announce the names of its supporters in January.

Randolph also said NAACP branches in several states simultaneously held news conferences and issued statements Monday in a show of unity for the boycott.

The NAACP announced at its national convention in July a renewed boycott and effort to bring down the Confederate flag from a capitol monument.

The flag that was moved to the monument after a deal brought it down from the building's dome in 2000.

The flag should have been removed from the dome, as it is not representative of the diverse population here in SC. But removing it from a monument is pushing too far. It.s not that i like the flag, but it is a part of our history in this country we should never forget or repeat.

The Civil War was over cotton, NOT slavery! Lincoln only issues the emancipation proclamation to take away support from the southern states from Europen Nations that would have otherwise given them money and supplies!

Ok this is getting ridiculous about time to boycott BET, Pop Joyner for "racial statements", all black colleges "no whites allowed". This is how racial ignorance is spreaded NAACP.
