SC teacher charged with having sex with teen

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - A South Carolina middle school math
teacher has been charged with having sex with a 15-year-old girl he
met online.

Richland County school officials said Thursday that Edward Craft
has been placed on administrative leave while the district
investigates.

Lexington County sheriff's deputies say the 47-year-old Crayton
Middle School teacher was arrested Wednesday.

Investigators think Craft posed as a 16-year-old boy and exchanged text messages with the teen he met on a social networking site.

Deputies say Craft drove the girl to his apartment Friday,
where the two had sex.

Craft is charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct with
a minor.

A sheriff's spokesman said Craft didn't have a lawyer, but faced
a hearing Thursday afternoon. He lived alone.

i go to crayton and know mr. craft. i had no idea he was like that. he has a family with like 5 kids too. many of my friends acuatly had him as a teacher. when we found out what had happened it was the talk of the school and the principal came in every single class and asked if we had any questions because they didnt want us making things up that we didnt know. i thought that this situation was rather intresting.
