AIKEN, S.C.- The University of South Carolina at Aiken will hold a candlelight remembrance in memory of basketball player Javonte Clanton Thursday at 9:30 p.m.
It will be held at the patio/fountain area in the quad of the USC Aiken campus. Attendees are encouraged to wear white in memory of Javonte.
Clanton died in a car crash on his way home to Ohio early Wednesday morning. It happened one day after he and the Pacers lost against Augusta State University in the NCAA II southeast division championship game.
Final funeral arrangements have not yet been set, but officials tell NBC Augusta 26 News the service will be in Javonte's hometown of Columbus, Ohio.
Family members have asked that donations be made to the "Javonte Clanton Memorial Scholarship" fund at USC Aiken.
Contributions can be sent to the Office of University Advancement at USC Aiken, 471 University Parkway, Aiken, SC 29801. For more information about donations, contact Dr. Deidre Martin with University Advancement at deidrem@usca.edu or (803) 641-3448.
