Beech Island man killed in car crash during severe weather

BEECH ISLAND, S.C.- The Aiken County Coroner says a Beech Island man was killed while driving through Friday night's severe weather.

James Adkinson died in a single car crash just before midnight on Chime Bell Church Road in Beech Island.

Coroner Tim Carlton says the 63-year-old was driving through poor visibility when he ran into a group of trees that fell in the road.

South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

This is the 8th deadly crash in Aiken County this year.
