UPDATE: Bank of America in North Augusta robbed

NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. - Three Georgia-Carolina banks have been robbed in 24 hours and investigators are working to find out if they're connected.

The latest happened Thursday afternoon at the Bank of America at 441 Martintown Road in North Augusta.

Investigators say the robber walked into the Bank of America on Martintown Road with a gun, robbed it and then took off on foot.

Investigators tell us a state constable who was outside of the bank tried to stop the robber.

They are also investigating if shots were fired between the constable and the robber.

Right now investigators are not sure if the two other robberies that happened Wednesday are related to this one.

“It's too early in the investigation to determine that but we will be working and looking at the video to see if there is any connection between the other bank robberies,” Lieutenant Tim Pearson of North Augusta Public Safety said.

Public Safety has a potential witness that they are looking for in relation to this case.

In Aiken County officers are looking for two men who held up the Security Federal Bank on Augusta Road in Langley Wednesday afternoon. Surveillance pictures showed one of the men using an AK-47 during the robbery.

The CSRA Federal Credit Union on Tobacco Road in Hephzibah was also robbed Wednesday.

Richmond County deputies are searching for one robber in that crime.

The Corporate offices of Banks, don't want to spend the money for security. But they ask the tellers to give the robbers what they want and then grill them, about the robbery. They try to make you feel like you was involved somehow. Stores do the same, except they want you to try and talk them (robbers)out of robbing the store. All this money is insured, and my life means more than any measley amount of money. I couldn't work under those stressful conditions. Changed my line of work.

I have been through 2 robberies in the past 5months. Everytime the feeling gets more and more intense of feeling threatned or paronia of being robbed. I do this we need cameras on the inside and outside of a bank. NO TELLERS DO NOT NEED TO CARRY GUNS. I'm sure you've never had a gun held to your face and violent language thrown at you so don't think you know that we need guns...it will only make the situation worse! BUT PLEASE...LETS GET SOMEONE AT THE BANKS TO PROTECT US!!!

I disagree with giving weapons to tellers. Having been robbed many years ago, I learned that most of the time all they want is the money. They don't want to hurt anyone, but you raise the risk of someone getting hurt if they have a weapon.
