AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. - People are being allowed to return home in Aiken County after a brush fire forced them to evacuate Thursday.
Firefighters say the fire burned about 200 acres along an area off Snipes Pond Road, that’s northeast of Aiken.
An officer with the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office says it could take a while to figure out what started the fire, but said dry and breezy conditions helped it spread.
Several agencies including firefighters from Aiken, New Holland, Couchton, Wagener and the South Carolina Forestry Commission are helping fight the fire.
There are no reports of injuries or damage to any homes.
