AIKEN, S.C. - Dozens of people turned out to a rally at the state Capitol to get South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford out of office Thursday.

In the beginning, Republican National Committeeman Glen McCall supported the rally, but now he says legislators have already voiced their opinions.

The fallout happened after Sanford admitted to having an affair with a woman from Argentina while he was missing for six days.

The Aiken Democratic Party is not officially involved, but some members think a rally for impeachment is the right idea.

"He left the state, left the country without telling a soul. What if something happened while he was gone? He left no one in charge,” Aiken Democratic Party member Teresa Harper said.

Governor Sanford has said he will not resign because that would be taking the easy way out.

the headline sounds as if NBC is telling us to rally. try saying "rally held to get Gov. Sanford out of office."

Let me get this straight, it was okay to let the President of our Country have sex in the White House, which belongs to all of us; stay in office but you want our Gov. to resign because he was at least honest about what he did to his family by admitting what he had done wrong....something just isn't right here. Leave the Gov. a lone. He's done an excellent job. I really think everyone is naive to think not one person knew where he was. Get a life and let him get on with his!
