AUGUSTA, Ga. - Many NBC Augusta 26 News storm spotters have reported excessive rain amounts for Wednesday and Thursday.
An area of low pressure aloft, combined with a stationary front and plentiful moisture caused numerous showers and thunderstorms to develop in Georgia-Carolina Wednesday and Thursday.
One slow-moving storm dumped several inches of rain in spots near the Columbia-Richmond County line Wednesday night and early Thursday morning. The storm also caused power outages and some minor flooding. The storm finally moved northeast through parts of Edgefield, Saluda, and Aiken counties Thursday morning, dumping more heavy rain.
Just before the rain arrived, the 2009 rainfall deficit for Augusta was nearly 4 inches. Many areas picked up 1 to 4 inches of rain.
