BEECH ISLAND S.C. – NBC Augusta 26 News has learned a body has been found in Beech Island.

Aiken County Investigators were called to the 700 block of Herndon Dairy Road around 8:30 p.m., Friday night.

Family tells 26 News the homeowner was discovered in his backyard with his shirt wrapped around his neck.

The Aiken County coroner says the man died of a heart attack.

Family say the man’s home and been ransacked with all of his guns, money and jewelry taken.

The sheriff’s office is investigating the death and has not released any findings at this time.

The body has been transported to Newberry, South Carolina to undergo an autopsy.

YOU need to research crime stats for the entire world, for your view is from a narrow perspective. When gun rates go down, gun-related crime and deaths go down. The United States is the most violent nation of the developed world, and that's nothing to be proud of.

You cannot be serious. If someone kicks in your door what are you going to do? Having a gun by itself doesn't protect you. You have to pick it up and fire it at the threat. No one can be prepared for everything, we don't know all the circumstances in this case. You need to research crime stats. When educated law abiding people own guns crimes go down.
