Another extension for unemployment benefits?

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina lawmakers will return to
the Capitol next week to ensure thousands of state residents
receive extended unemployment benefits.

House Speaker Bobby Harrell's spokesman Greg Foster said Monday
the Legislature will return Oct. 27 for one day.

On Saturday, nearly 7,000 South Carolina residents began losing
benefits that would have been available had lawmakers made a minor
law change earlier this year.

They joined nearly 100,000 residents who have exhausted state
benefits and federal extensions.

South Carolina's 11.5 percent jobless rate is the nation's sixth
highest.

Legislative leaders say the session will not allow for
impeachment discussions about Gov. Mark Sanford, whose conduct has scrutinized since he revealed an extramarital affair.
