Beauty queen makes fun of herself in commercial

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - A former South Carolina teenage beauty
queen will appear in a new commercial poking fun at her confused,
mangled pageant response which drew nationwide attention several
years ago.

The State of Columbia reported Monday that former Miss Teen
South Carolina Caitlin Upton will be featured in a commercial for
Wonderful Pistachios.

In the commercial posted on the newspaper's Web site, Upton
opens with the same words she used during the Miss Teen USA
pageant. The ad ends with another voice saying ``Beauty queens do
it without a clue,'' as Upton, wearing a crown and gown, cracks
open a pistachio.

Upton was third runner-up in the pageant, where she was asked
why one-fifth of Americans can't locate the U.S. on a map. A
YouTube video of the response drew several million hits.

I am so glad this story got posted. Ok, not really. It's a ridiculously unimportant story and was written terribly. The story was obviously copied and pasted from the AP. The tag was uninformative and pointless. Seriously? Does this chick need more media coverage? And for a commercial she did mocking her stupidity? Honestly, this is the lead story on your website? I hate to pull the "is this a slow news day" card, but there had to be something better to run. This is not even a worthy story.
